After an early start, we arrive at the Cao Dai temple in Tay Ninh before noon for a tour of this unusual temple, which is home to the headquarters of the unique Cao Dai sect, whose patron saints include Joan of Arc, Victor Hugo and Winston Churchill to name a few. The religion is a odd mix of Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism and Christianity.
• On the way to the Cu Chi tunnels we'll stop at a roadside restaurant for a lunchbreak. We arrive at Cu Chi in the mid afternoon. The tunnels are 75 km northwest of HO CHI Minh City, an area that played an important role during Vietnam's wars for independence and unification. The more than 200 km of tunnels built here by the Communist guerrillas are the highlight of South Vietnam tours. You can see the bedrooms, meeting rooms, air-raid shelters, smokeless kitchens, and experience life underground in this extraordinary tunnel complex.
