Hoi An, formerly known as Faifo, is an exceptionally well-preserved example of a South-East Asian trading port dating from the 15th to the 19th century. Hoi An has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1999. The town is located along the Thu Bon River, 30 km south of
Da Nang. Today you will embark on a walking tour of this charming small town with it's hundreds of historic houses, congregation halls, pagodas and other structures. Its buildings and its street plan reflect the influences, both indigenous and foreign, that have combined to produce this unique heritage site. Visit the Museum of History and Culture, the Tan Ky house, the Japanese bridge, and the Fujian
Assembly Hall among others.

Day 2: Hoi An

Free day to wander around Hoi An by foot or bicycle. Only 4 kms from the town centre is beautiful Cua Dai Beach. A boat trip to offshore Cham Island or a trip to the Cham ruins of My Son are also options for today.

Day 3: Hoi An - Bach Ma National Park

Pick up from Hotel at 8 AM. Drive to Da Nang. Visit the small but interesting Cham Museum.
Drive to Bach Ma National Park (entrance fee included) Bach Ma (Vietnamese for "White Horse Mountain") was declared a national park in 1991 to protect the centre of the last corridor of forest stretching from the South China Sea to the Annamite Mountain range at the border with Laos. The park mainly consists of steep forested mountain ranges.
The highest peak in Bach Ma National park is 1480 m, only 18 kms from the coast. From the summit the views of the South China Sea are fantastic Bach Ma was the site of an extensive hillstation during the period of French rule. The narrow sealed road to the hillstation has been reconstructed a couple of years ago. Only a handful of bungalows are left from the former colonial settlement. Bach Ma has a number of hiking trails. The park houses a variety of large mammals and many species of bird.

Day 4: Bach Ma National Park - Hue

Morning walk in Bach Ma National park. Afternoon drive to Hue, the former capital of Vietnam in the era of the Nguyen emperors.

Day 5: Hue

At 07:30 departure from your hotel. Embark on a boat trip on the Perfume River to visit some of the tombs of the Nguyen emperors. Along the way visit the Tien Mu Pagoda, one of the most photographed objects in the country. Continue to the tomb of emperor Minh Mang. After this cross the Perfume River and visit the remarkably different tomb of emperor Khai Dinh which represents a fusion between traditional Vietnamese and contemporary European style. After lunch in a traditional "Banh Khoai" restaurant we visit the Forbidden Purple City, constructed under Emperor Gia Long's reign in the early 19th century AD. It's located inside the Citadel of Hue, which was badly damaged during the Tet offensive in 1968.

Day 6: Hue

Free day. Check out at noon.
Transfer to the railway station or airport to continue your trip.
