VIET NAM GOLF OVERVIEW
One of the best up-and-coming golfing destinations in the world, Vietnam was named the "Undiscovered Golf Destination of the Year" in 2007 by the International Association of Golf Travel Operators (IAGTO). Vietnam is safe, friendly, dynamic and affordable and has a fascinating history and culture with sunny tropical climate and delicious cuisine. Currently there are 25 golf courses in the country and more than 65 projects at some phase of development, planning, and construction.
Golf courses in and around Ho Chi Minh City are Dong Nai Golf Resort which was Vietnam’s first 27 hole golf resort, Long Thanh Golf Club offers 36 holes of golf, Vietnam Golf & Country Club has two 18 hole championship length golf courses, Paradise Golf Resort in Vung Tau is a 27 hole layout offering challenging links-style golf with spectacular views out over the sea, and Song Be Golf Resort has 3-Nine holes courses and was Vietnam's first international championship golf course and is considered one of the most challenging layouts in the country. Moving northwards to Phan Thiet is The Ocean Dunes Golf Club that features 18 holes and the first links golf course in Vietnam the 18 holes Sea Links Golf and Country Club both designed by Masters and British Open champion Nick Faldo. Located at 1,500m above sea level in the cooler Central Highlands is the 18-holes Da Lat Palace Golf Club, originally established in 1922 and now has, it is the only golf course in South East Asia with bent grass tees, fairways and greens.
Vinpearl Golf Club on Hon Tre Island in Nha Trang Bay is designed by IMG and is located in the Vinpearl Tourism Complex; it is the first 18-hole par 72 Championship international standard golf course on an island in Vietnam and the only one that has a spectacular ocean view from every hole on the course. Also in Nha Trang is the Diamond Bay Resort & Golf Course, a 18 holes champion golf course designed by Andy Dye. The city of Da Nang in Central Vietnam is home to The Montgomerie Links Golf Club, located just off breathtaking Ha My Beach and the Da Nang Golf Club designed by Greg Norman and built on the sandy loam soil of China Beach, both are 18 holes courses. In the north of the country is the 18 holes Chi Linh Star Golf Course with Tiff Eagle grass greens and was designed and constructed by Independent Golf Course Services of Australia, also near Ha Noi is the Japanese managed Hanoi Golf Club also with 18 holes. The King's Island Golf Resort and Country Club is a 36 holes course and is the oldest golf course in Vietnam, it is located 45 km outside of Ha Noi in the shadow of Bai Vi Mountain. The 18 holes Tam Dao golf course is one of the more difficult Ha Noi golf courses and uses Sea Isle Paspalum on the tee boxes, fairways and greens for ideal golfing all year round.
